Job Description

Position Purpose

  • Accountable for the overall management of the procurement of direct/Indirect spend, typically in the $100-$150 million range with a significantly high level of technical and supply complexity.
  • Leads the process of regional supply market understanding, search, selection, contracting and ongoing supplier relationship management for key direct spend(s) (applies to raw materials, packaging materials and contract manufacturing procurement).
  • Manages and directs the procurement operations team to ensure vendor pricing and payment terms are maintained in the company ERP system and are 99% accurate, vendor quality is 98% and vendor on-time and in-full service is 98%.
  • Develops a deep level of understanding of the global supply base and identifies areas of opportunity to drive cost savings, improved payment terms, risk management, capacity planning and other value added elements of a supplier relationship.
  • Develops strategic alliances with a select group of suppliers to assure an ongoing supply with surge capacity for the required products while creating an advantaged cost position.
  • Ensures contingency plans exist, an understanding of alternate supply sources and a balanced risk approach to business awards to maintain a healthy level of mutual importance with the supplier, and minimize instances of sole sourcing.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Create and implement procurement strategies and lead cross functional teams to create cost savings (and inflation mitigation) payment term value, mitigate supply risk, and contribute to increased EBITDA and a healthy balance sheet.
  • Leader of the global strategic sourcing and procurement function.
  • Manager of the Procurement Operations Team that has ownership and accountability for the capability building and overall people development of his/her team members.
  • Key interface for the business for global sourcing and procurement related matters including the new product development process and the S&OP process.
  • Create, Own and align the procurement strategy for the spend with ABH business goals.
  • Demonstrate high level of depth of understanding of the regional and global supply market for the spend and is the subject matter expert for cross functional stakeholders.
  • Close interaction in the new product development process (development to launch).
  • Own and maintain the detailed cost build up (own development of clean sheet and Total Cost of Ownership tools) and drivers for spend to enable fact based negotiations.
  • Lead the negotiation strategy development and execution for the global spend. Ensure legal contracts in place for all spends of relevant size and risk.
  • Ensure actionable supply assurance and contingency plans in event of supply outages or demand spikes.
  • Deliver committed cost savings and value creation goals for the spend.
  • Leverage regional and global sources of supply to create credible competition, flexibility and best cost position
  • Actively support and lead supplier interactions to meet leadership objectives as agreed to by ABH.
  • Manage special projects in support of long term business plans; e.g., standardization programs, new product launches and new global sources of supply.
  • Deliver inflation forecasts and re-estimates used in the budgeting process.
  • Leverage vendor new technology for the spend where opportunity exists to upgrade product performance and/or create additional flexibility.
  • Collaborate with functional business partners to ensure year on year progress against the indirect procurement strategy.


  • Education: Undergraduate degree
  • Five plus years of business experience in Strategic sourcing and Procurement with depth of procurement skills in key tools such as clean sheets and total cost of ownership
  • Ten plus years of business experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing and/or research in a supplier facing role
  • Ability to interface with multiple levels of an organization internally and externally
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop business cases and strategic business plans in support of ABH's goals
  • Best in class organizational communication and networking ability, strategic thinking, leadership, strong influencing skills, high level communication, negotiations, and problem analysis
  • Global travel expectation for the first year to be in the range of 25% to 50% of the time

Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Education: BS Science/Engineering/Business; MBA
  • Purchasing or Supply Chain certifications
  • Proven track record of cross functional collaboration
  • Cosmetic industry experience
